ENGLISH WEEK @ CREEK - MERCURY

ENGLISH WEEK held on July'2015 @ CREEK PLANET SCHOOL - MERCURY

In the vision of exposing the creeker's inner abilities in the Literature ,the management of the Creek has taken the chance of introducing the 'English Literary Week' , a prestigious week, a platform for all the students to showcase their language skills.

Day - 1 :  As a part of English Week ,the very first days session was poetry recitation.The students of VA3 and VB participated in the assembly. As we know, the poem is the king of literature children enjoy the beauty of expression , thoughts , feeling rhyme and music of words. Taking all these facts into consideration the children got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The children chose a variety of topics for their recitation like nature , trees ,flower,mother , teacher etc. with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The children of all the grades  had fun in the English periods , reciting the poems.


Day - 2 :  On the second day , the story telling session was held as a part of English Week to enhance student's imaginary and creative thinking. Story telling acts as a fuel for a fire of literacy in a child's development. Kids of VA1 and VA2 participated actively in telling their own creative stories in the assembly. Story telling introduces new vocabulary to children, enhances listening skills, encourages development of emotions and feelings in children. The children's of all the grades shared their own creative stories in the classroom to their fellow friends .The day ended up with lots of joy.


Day - 3 :   As a part of English Week , DEAR program has been conducted on the third day. Students of Grade-VI exhibited placards showing the importance of reading books in day-to-day life. Few children also shared their experiences about reading books. Children also suggested the best books to read. The session has been held to improve mental stimulation , Knowledge , Vocabulary , memory , Analytical thinking skills ,concentration , writing skills and also to reduce stress. In view of this , children were asked to read the story books bought by them and asked to write the review. All the children participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the session.


Day - 4 :   Keeping in view , the improvement of student's confidence and exposure of their thoughts and ideas an Elocution competition has been held in the school. Topics like , 'PM Narendra Modiji's mission - Swatch Bharat' ,for VII and VIII grades is 'Promise for the Future'. Children of VII grade made placards and spoke about the importance of Elocution. They says, Elocution helps in building confidence , strengthening language skills ,building vocabulary , pronunciation , and also overcoming shyness and stage fright. All the children made the best use of the day to share their views.


Day - 5  :  The last day of the week was allotted for dramatics to stimulate and improve the dramatic skills in the children. Children of VIII , IX and X Grades performed a drama ' Dear Departed ' focusing on helping the old aged people in an excellent way. Drama provides children with an opportunity to work together cooperatively on a shared life. As a result ,it gives children the change to express themselves more effectively in everyday situations. The Creek troop performed an excellent drama and entertained everybody.



The entire session was planned and guided by Mrs. Aruna Urmila [ HOD of Eng Dept.]


The session was witnesses and encouraged by the Principal Mr.Ravi Kumar and Vice-Principal Mrs.Prameela.


Vote of thanks was given by Mrs.Sujatha [Eng Dept.]


The session ended up colorfully and this happened only with the support of the entire teaching and non-teaching staff.
