SCIENCE ACTIVITIES JUNIOR WING (JUNE 2014-15)

Structure of Teeth:
Students of Grade IV observed different types of teeth from the model and learnt their function and number of each type of teeth present in Upper and lower jaws.

 

Preparing a model : 

Students prepared a model of different types of teeth using clay. The motive is to identify the different types of teeth and learn their function.

They learnt how many incisors, canines, premolars and molars would be present in mouth and also came to know the different shapes teeth.

Food Groups

An activity was conducted by the students of Grade II on Food Groups. 

They brought various food items and sorted them out into different food groups. They learnt to identify which are energy giving foods, protective foods etc and what is a balanced diet.

Identification Of Fabric Texture

Grade IV students performed an activity by pasting different kinds of fabrics on a paper according to the texture . The students could classify the fabric by texture and also know the difference between artificial and nature fabrics.

Clothes We Wear

Children brought various kinds of clothes and explained where the fibers of those clothes are obtained from. And also they came to know what kinds of clothes are to be worn in which season. It was a colourful activity which the students enjoyed a lot.

ENGLISH ACTIVITIES JUNIOR WING (JUNE 2014-15)

Role Play: Sindbad the Sailor
Children of Grade IV performed a role play titled "Sindbad the Sailor". This is conducted to make the students know how to deal with difficult situations by thinking wisely.
Children learned to use one's wit if one finds oneself in a difficult situation. Not to panic and remain calm and observant.

Calligraphy:
English Calligraphy competition was conducted from 8th to 11th of July in Grades  I to IV.
This is to check the printing abilities of the children.
Through this competition the children would develop a zeal to improve their hand writing skills and try to enhance them by looking at the performance of the peer group.
They participated with a great deal of enthusiasm and interest in this competition and showcased their printing abilities.

DEAR (Drop Everything And Read)
This activity of reading books was conducted in the last week of June for Grades I to IV.
This activity is conducted every year to develop interest of reading books in the children.
Through this an interest is developed in the children to read books and to understand the story or content that they are reading as they had to give a summery of what they have read after they finish reading. This helped in showcasing their thinking , remembering and writing abilities.

Poet Hunt - Literary Week Activity (July 7th 2014)

Creek hunted for the best poets and poetesses from Grades III and IV. Extremely glad to find young poets and poetesses in good numbers who created their own poems and recited them. This helped  to enhance the hidden creative talent of the students.

My Family
Grade I students had a speaking skill development activity in which they had to speak about their family. Kids have displayed amazing talent in describing their family and their love for it. It was an integrated activity of English and EVS wherein they learn about family.
